    Le présent document décrit deux méthodes de mesurage du bruit dans une zone habitée ou occupée ou une zone constructible, ou en limite de propriété d'une installation bruyante et des indicateurs permettant d'apprécier si le bruit, auquel est exposé une population ou un individu, est susceptible de causer: - soit une gêne pour ses activités (travail, relations et communications sociales, loisirs, etc.), son repos, son sommeil ou sa tranquillité; - soit un danger pour sa santé (à l'exception des effets lésionnels).
