Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM ist auf Geräte anwendbar, die Strahlungsleistung messen, die von Quellen emittiert wird, wie sie für die Lichtwellenleiter-Kommunikationsindustrie typisch sind. Diese Quellen umfassen Laserdioden, lichtemittierende Dioden (LED) und Lichtwellenleiter-Quellen. Die Strahlung kann divergent oder kollimiert sein. Die Norm beschreibt die Kalibrierung von Leistungsmessgeräten, wie sie von Kalibrierlabors oder von Herstellern von Leistungsmessgeräten durchgeführt werden.
