The Intelligent Workstation System (IWSS) is proposed as a system to supplement and/or replace existing position equipment used by human attendants to provide attendant based operator services. The IWSS would take advantage of recent advances in workstation technology and a Bellcore specified interface to the Operator Services System (OSS) switch to increase a BCC's flexibility in procuring position equipment. The IWSS would also facilitate the more rapid introduction of new, potentially more diverse and sophisticated, attendant based service independently of the OSS switch development process. This document provides generic requirements concerning the user environment, system programmability, database system access flexibility and other system functionality that are needed to support system goals
