Esta norma se refiere a los elevadores de obras de construcción alimentados eléctricamente e instalados temporalmente (referidos como elevadores de obra en esta norma) que puedan ser utilizados por personas con permiso de entrada en las obras o edificios en construcción, que sirvan niveles de acceso y que tengan un dispositivo portacargas: - diseñado para el transporte de personas o de personas y materiales; - guiado; - que se mueve verticalmente o a lo largo de un camino con 15 grado de desviación máxima respecto de la vertical; - soportado o sostenido por cable con tambor, cremallera y piñón, pistón hidráulico (directo o indirecto) o mecanismo de expansión; - donde los mástiles o apoyos, cuando se monten, puedan requerir, o no, soporte desde estructuras separadas.
