Esta norma internacional especifica un método directo y un método de comparación para determinar el nivel de potencia acústica de una fuente funcionando en un entorno en condiciones meteorológicas estándar correspondientes a una impedancia característica de [rho]c = 400 N.s/m[3] (donde [rho] es la densidad del aire y c es la velocidad del sonido).
