Sets out requirements for regular maintenance, including inspection and testing procedures, of the fire hydrant installation designed and installed in accordance with AS 2419.1. Maintenance procedures are given for six levels of service; weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, three-yearly and six-yearly. Appendices set out a checklist of the maintenance procedures, and the formats required for logbook reports and hydrant test records.

This Standard sets out requirements for the maintenance of fire hydrant installations including the hydrant portion of combined sprinkler and hydrant systems. Regular inspections are specified and precautions to be taken where the installation is rendered inoperative are given.
