1.1This specification covers requirements and test methods for the dimensions, workmanship, and the properties of extruded and compression-molded sheet, plate, rod and tubular bar manufactured from polyetherimide (PEI) resins.

1.2The properties included in this specification are those required for the compositions covered. It is possible that other requirements will be necessary to identify particular characteristics important to specialized applications. These shall be specified by using the suffixes as given in Section 5.

1.3This specification does not allow for the use of recycled plastics (as defined in Guide D7209).

1.4The values stated in English units are regarded as standard in all property and dimensional tables. For reference purposes, SI units are also included in Table 1 and Table S-PEI.

1.5This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
