Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

CONTAINED IN VOL. 12.02, 2017 Specifies general specifications for heat meters.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

1.1This specification defines general specifications for heat meters. Heat meters are instruments that measure heat in heat exchange circuits in which energy is absorbed (cooling) or given up (heating) by a flowing liquid.

1.2For this specification, the necessary elements of a heat meter consist of a sensor to measure flow of the heat-conveying liquid, a pair of temperature sensors that measure the temperature differential across the heat exchange circuit, and a device that receives input from the flow and temperature sensors and calculates energy.

1.3Electrical safety is not a part of this specification.

1.4Mechanical safety (including pressure safety) is not a part of this specification.

1.5The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard.

1.6This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.7This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
