These safe practice recommendations are intended to provide a base-line document for owners and users of the electron beam (EB) welding and cutting equipment to follow and a minimum standard to protect personnel and property from potential hazards specifically associated with the electron beam welding and cutting. These safe practice recommendations also apply, mostly, to EB heat treating, EB curing, EB metal deposition, etc. No attempt has been made to include all the potential hazards associated with the welding and cutting processes, which are covered by ANSI-Z49.1. The general requirements outlined in both of these documents should be strictly adhered to at all times.
