This Section of BS 3095 describes a method for the determination of the freezing-point depression of milk based upon the original method and apparatus of Hortvet.

The method is applicable to whole milk, partly skimmed or skimmed milk, either raw, pasteurised, sterilized or UHT, whether or not homogenised, provided that the titratable acidity of the milk is also determined.
