This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of fumonisin B 1 (FB 1) and fumonisin B 2 (FB 2) in processed maize-containing foods for infants and young children by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with immunoaffinity cleanup and fluorescence detection (FLD). This method has been validated in an interlaboratory study via the analysis of both naturally contaminated and spiked samples ranging from 112µg/kg to 458µg/kg for FB 1+FB 2, 89µg/kg to 384µg/kg for FB 1 and 22µg/kg to 74µg/kg for FB 2.
