Preface This is the first edition of B837, Collapsible fabric storage tanks (bladders). This Standard specifies minimum requirements for the design, construction, testing, and inspection of relocatable above-ground collapsible fabric storage bladders for the storage of petroleum products and allied petroleum products. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope 1.1 This Standard specifies technical requirements for the design, construction, testing, inspection, and performance of relocatable above-ground collapsible fabric storage tanks (bladders) intended for the storage of petroleum products and allied petroleum products with a relative density not greater than 1. 1.2 This Standard applies to bladders that are shop-fabricated from reinforced coated fabrics having a nominal capacity not greater than 125,000 L for installation in a fixed location. 1.3 Bladders covered by this Standard are not intended for the transportation of products nor are they intended to be transported while containing products. 1.4 This Standard and any standards referenced in it do not make or imply any assurance or guarantee with respect to the life expectancy, durability, or operating performance of equipment and materials referenced in the Standard. 1.5 The requirements of this Standard are expressed in SI (metric) units. 1.6 In this Standard, \"shall\" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; \"should\" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and \"may\" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (nonmandatory) to define their application.
