This Publication relates to Human-Computer Interface (HCI) systems provided for people operating industrial processes and activities on facilities such as chemical plant, power stations, oil refineries, etc. It gives guidance on: · the factors to take into account when designing an HCI for such processes and activities;· display hierarchies;· screen display format design; and · control room design attributes which affect HCI.The objective is to help engineers and design teams develop HCI systems which are more usable and therefore result in safer and more cost-effective operation of industrial systems. The Guide is also intended to help reduce the need for reengineering of systems after installation.Both batch and continuous processes are covered by this Guide.
