Deals with details of construction, performance and testing of portable, mobile and stationary electrical instruments used for sensing the presence of combustible vapor or gas concentrations in ambient air. Parts of these instruments can be installed or operated in Class 1 hazardous (classified) locations and gaseous mines according to codes and standards defined by authorities with jurisdiction. Covers line-voltage operated instruments rated at 600V nominal or lower, and portable, mobile or stationary instruments using a non-rechargeable (primary) type battery or rechargeable (secondary) type.
