La norma indica i parametri fisici e gli strumenti idonei alla misurazione dell'umidità nell'aria ai fini della conservazione del Patrimonio Culturale, sia che si trovi all'aperto che all'interno (per esempio in musei, gallerie, archivi, biblioteche, chiese e palazzi storici). La norma stabilisce indicazioni per effettuare misure accurate dell'ambiente microclimatico e per studiare le interazioni fra aria e oggetti.
