Diese Norm enthält allgemeine Sicherheitsanforderungen an Steckvorrichtungen mit einem Nennstrom von 16 A und einer Nennspannung von 250 V Einphasen-Wechselstrom, zum Verbinden der elektrischen Einrichtungen mit Netzanschluss von Kraftwagen, z. B. zur Versorgung von elektrischen Heizungen, Batterie-Ladegeräten und Führerhaus-Heizungen. Diese Norm darf auch für Steckvorrichtungen für andere ähnliche Anwendungsfälle verwendet werden. ANMERKUNG 1: Diese Norm gilt nicht für Vorrichtungen, die in flexiblen Netzanschluss-Leitungen zum Anschluss von elektrischen Haushaltsgeräten und dergleichen an deren Netz verwendet werden. ANMERKUNG 2: Die Aufnahme von Anforderungen an Steckvorrichtungen für 440 V Drehstrom ist in Vorbereitung. ANMERKUNG 3: Nicht zu vergessen ist, dass Aspekte der Produkthaftung in Verbindung mit der Anwendung von Steckvorrichtungen zu berücksichtigen sind.
