This Standard specifies requirements for the production and supply of welded I sections for general structural and engineering purposes.This Standard does not cover the following:(a) Structural steel - hot-rolled bars and sections (see AS/NZS 3679.1).(b) Steel plates for pressure equipment (see AS 1548).(c) Structural steel - hot-rolled plates, floorplates and slabs (see AS/NZS 3678).(d) Carbon steels and carbon-manganese steels - hot-rolled bars and semifinished products (see AS 1442).(e) Structural steel hollow sections (see AS 1163).(f) Steel reinforcing bars for concrete (see AS 1302).(g) Structural and pressure vessel steel -Quenched and tempered plate (see AS 3597).(h) Built-up I sections fabricated in accordance with AS 3990, AS 4100 or NZS 3404.NOTES:1 Guidelines to purchasers on requirements that should be specified by the purchaser and those that should or may be agreed on at the time of enquiry and order are given in Appendix A.2 Guidelines to various means for demonstrating compliance with this Standard are given in Appendix B.
