ISA-88.00.02-2001, Batch Control – Part 2: Data Structures and Guidelines for Languages, is the second part of the ISA-88 series of standards that focus on batch control in process industries. It defines data models, data structures and language guides to support batch control systems, building on the foundational models and terminology established in ISA-88.00.01-2010, Batch Control Part 1: Models and Terminology. This standard provides an object-oriented data model for recipes, equipment, scheduling and production information, along with relational table schemas for exchanging this information between different systems using SQL. It also specifies a graphical language known as Procedure Function Charts (PFCs) that illustrate recipe procedures and support complex batch processes, including parallelism, selection and synchronization. ISA-88.00.02 aims to enhance interoperability, clarity and consistency in the design, operation and communication of batch control systems across various tools and stakeholders in the process industry.
