This Standard applies to PVC and XLPE insulated neutral wire screened cables intended for use in electrical installations including overhead and underground lines at working voltages up to and including 0.6/1 kV.NOTES:1 This Standard is intended to apply only to neutral screened cables of types provided for in the tables of construction and dimensions (Tables 2.1 and 2.2). It is not intended, however, that other types of neutral screened cables should be precluded from use and regulatory authorities may give approval to new types and sizes as they are developed.2 The Standard does not apply to concentric wire neutral XLPE insulated cables for electricity supply provided for in AS 1178.3 For New Zealand, the neutral screen of a 5-conductor cable may be used as an earth conductor.

First published in Australia as AS C155-1956.
