Provides guidelines for design and construction of permanent and temporary barriers in and about buildings and places of assembly, these being designed and positioned for protection against hazards, and to restrict or control movement of people or vehicles. Covers barriers indicating routes, those capable of stopping/diverting vehicles up to 2500 kg in areas where speed restriction is 16 km/h (4.44m/s, 10 mile/h), and walls, glazing and elements of buildings where elements act as protective barriers. Not covered, are barriers for resisting impact at travel speeds greater than 16 km/h, barriers used in building and works of engineering construction, and safety barriers for protection of children of up to 24 months.
